Wedging Clay – A Spiral Experience

Wedging clay is sometimes compared to kneading bread.  And there’s a good reason for that, it looks like the same movement. Hands are pressing and pushing on the clay in a gentle rolling action to mix the ingredients, to press out all the air bubbles and to align the molecules of clay.

That’s right.  Molecules.  Of clay.

All the bubbles of air are squeezed out, slapped out, rolled out, so there are no pockets to interfere with John’s throwing.
