Ellison Bay Pottery’s Early Summer Schedule

It’s been a busy winter this year. We’ve been attending art shows and visiting family and working in the studio building our inventory so it seems we may run out of space. What a great position to be in.

Here are the events on our May and June Calendar.

Door County Potters’ Guild Annual Tour

May 5 and 6 10-5 each day.

Our theme for this Event is FLOWERS! We’ve got new ikebanas, small planters and new vases all ready to hold my favorite plants: Flowers.

Member Galleries are: Ellison Bay Pottery, Gills Rock Stoneware, Clay Bay Pottery, Ephraim Clayworks, TR Pottery, Off the Wheel Pottery and Plum Bottom Pottery. Maps are at each gallery or on our website. The potters of Door County work all year making their wares but the best inventory is now. Tours, demonstrations, refreshments and drawings for pottery will be at each studio/gallery. Here’s your chance to get that Mother’s Day or birthday or wedding gift. Be the first on your block to buy one of the newest works.

Made In Door County – a Behind the Scenes Tour

May 18, 19, 20 10-5 each day

Experience “Made in Door County” products with tours and special promotions at select businesses throughout the county. Ellison Bay Pottery is offering tours of the studio, a pit fire opening on Saturday and a glaze kiln opening on Sunday.

Ellison Bay Arts Spring Crawl

May 19 and 20 10a to 5p each day

Our Ellison Bay Arts Spring tour is the same weekend as the Made In Door County Tour! There are more working artists with galleries in Ellison Bay than in any other community in Door County. This year we have two (2) kiln openings scheduled for this weekend. Saturday we’ll open the PIT (see below) and Sunday we will open the GLAZE KILN – full of still hot and pinging pottery ready for you to buy right off the shelf. It’s quite an event!! We’ve been working hard to make new work all winter and this is your chance to see everything first, including a tour of the studios, a chance to talk to the artists and watch demonstrations. Shrink your gift giving list! You’ll even have time to find something for yourself.

So, those of you who can make it for these events have two exciting tours to help you find out more about Hand Made in Door County.

If that isn’t enough, on Friday, May 18th we will conduct our last High School Pit Firing. Freshmen art students from Gibraltar Area Schools and their teacher, Sally B. will bring their pots and fire them in the bonfire with us.

Open to the Public are the OPENINGS!

We’ll open that pit on Saturday. Sunday we will open our Glaze Kiln. In between we’ll nap! Nope, just kidding.

A class preparing pots for the pit.

And then there is Memorial Day Weekend and our Spring Almost Perfect Pottery Sale!

May 25, 26, 27 and 28 10-5 each day!

30% to 70% off our Almost Perfect Pottery. If it can’t be used you won’t see it, that’s how Almost Perfect the Pottery is. We have a Fall Almost Perfect Pottery Sale in Sept. and don’t worry, I’ll send you a reminder.

Pitcher Lineup

and that’s MAY.

Also, this month we are hosting a special Demonstrations for the Road Scholars from Covenant Harbor in Lake Geneva twice in June. Since it’s the Wine and Food week, John will be demonstrating his goblet throwing techniques. We’ll also be demonstrating to these Life Long Learners in September.
