Abe Cohn: Mentor and Friend

We’re firing Abe’s pots right now happily, gratefully. Honored to be asked to do so. There’s no way John and I could actually balance the scales for what Abe and his wife Ginka have done first for John, then for me and definitely for both of us. Their quiet support, their insightful comments, their sense of humor and love of what they do have been the one constant influence on how our lives have unfolded. John saw what they had and how they worked for their vision and used that as a template for his professional life.
Of course, we don’t pay them back. We share what we learned with anyone and everyone who shows any interest in clay. Just like they did.
Later this week I’ll post the results of our firing, both our pots and Abe’s. His pots will be in his gallery, ready to be claimed and loved soon.
